Wishing is good, doing is better. A commercial for fair supply chains by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Nearly 80% of global trade is based on global value chains. Unfortunately, fairness is not always a given. Child labor, wage dumping, and environmental destruction are still sadly part of these supply chains. To change this, the Supply Chain Act has been in place since January 1, 2023. To inform the people in Germany about it, this emotional commercial was created for Christmas 2022. The stars: A series of teddy bears, which highlight various stages of the supply chain. Much of their acting was done through puppeteering on set. However, some parts could only be achieved with CGI - for example, the teddy bear that snuggles up to its little owner in bed. And this is where we came into play: We created a perfect lookalike of the already known BMAS bear, taught it to walk, wiggle its ears, and perform some climbing and cuddling skills. Other bears received clones for the conveyor belt or a more lively expression.
The 60-second spot was shown in cinemas across Germany at the turn of the year 22/23 and was seen by 8.5 million people in cinemas. The film was produced by e+p Films for the agency Kompaktmedien. The animations were created by Bunch Berlin, including Rob Rauchfuß and myself.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs says:
Wouldn't it be nice if all people around the world received fair wages and if workplace safety were the top priority everywhere? Wouldn't it be wonderful if children could play instead of work, and if the environment remained unharmed by production processes? Then the world would be a little better, wouldn't it? The Supply Chain Act strengthens human rights in global supply chains and environmental protection. It mandates larger companies based in Germany with at least 3,000 employees to ensure compliance with human rights along their entire supply chains starting from January 2023.
